Kevin Anderson is the sixth player to retire from Roland-Garros. The South African was also the last player with collegiate ties left in the tournament.
Anderson was 48 minutes into his match against Marin Cilic when he was forced to retire due to a hamstring injury. Cilic will play Wawrinka in the quarterfinals.

Cilic joins 4 other French Open winners in the quarters - Nadal, Djokovic, Murray and Wawrinka.
