The 2017 NCAA individual tournament has come to an end, but not without some major surprises and achievements. Here are a few of the most interesting facts about the winners of this year's NCAA tournament. 

Notes on Brienne Minor's NCAA Singles Title
  • ​Captures first NCAA tennis title in Michigan history
  • Sophomore, ranked #24 in ITA rankings heading into NCAAs and was unseeded the tournament. 
  • Took out 3 seeded players on the way to the title
    • Beat #9 Gabi Talaba (Texas Tech) 6-4, 6-2 in round of 32
    • Beat #15 Sydney Campbell (Vanderbilt) 6-7 (5), 7-5, 6-0 in semifinals
    • Beat #6 Belinda Woolcock (Florida) 6-3, 6-3 in finals

Notes on Thai-Son Kwiatkowski's NCAA Singles Title
  • ​Senior, ranked #14 in ITA rankings and seeded #14 heading into the NCAA tournament. 
  • This is the fourth time this season that Kwiatkowski and Blumberg have faced off and the first time that Kwiatkowski has prevailed.
    • Blumberg won 6-3, 6-2 in the team tournament last week
    • Blumberg won in the ACC Championship semifinal 7-5, 6-4
    • ITA Indoors - match unfinished
  • ​Ending his collegiate career as a 3 time NCAA team champion, MVP of the 2016 NCAA championship, NCAA singles champion, ITA Indoors Champion and as an All-American

 Notes on Francesca Di Lorenzo/Miho Kowase NCAA Doubles Title
  • ​First NCAA Championship in program history
  • Ranked #18 in ITA rankings and were unseeded heading into NCAA tournament
  • Took out 3 seeded teams on the way to the title
    • Beat #3 Caroline Brinson/ Ellen Perez (Georgia) 5-7, 6-1, 10-6 in the first round
    • Beat #6 Mami Adachi/ Aldila Sutjiadi (Kentucky) 6-3, 7-5 in the quarterfinals
    • Beat #5 Maddie Pothoff/ Erin Routliffe (Alabama) 6-7 (6), 6-4, 10-7 for the title
  • Ended season 23-1 
  • Kowase, finishes college with 213 singles and doubles wins - only the second Buckeye with more than 100 singles and more than 100 doubles wins

Notes on Andrew Harris/Spencer Papa Doubles Title
  • ​The duo was ranked #15 in the ITA rankings and were unseeded heading into the tournament. 
  • This was a Cinderella story if we've ever seen one.
  • The duo won Oklahoma's first NCAA individual title and took out 4 top 10 teams on the way
  • #6 Mike Redlicki/Jose Salazar (Arkansas) in round of 16 6-2, 3-6, 10-7
  • #2 Martin Redlicki/ Evan Zhu (UCLA) in quarterfinals 6-1, 7-6 (4)
  • #4 Skander Mansouri/Christian Seraphim (Wake Forest) in semifinals 4-6, 6-3, 12-10
  • #1 Robert Loeb/Jan Zielinski (Georgia) in finals 4-6, 6-2, 10-6
