The first round of the NCAA tournament should be pretty cut and dry. The disparity between the top 16 No. 1 seeds and No. 4 seeds is significant. We don't expect any upsets in the first round there… but since this is the NCAA tournament, teams come out of the woodwork and play out of their minds so anything is possible.

However, there are some interesting first round matchups between No. 2 and No. 3 seeds that could go either way.

Coming in at No. 3 on the list is...

No. 30 NC State vs. No. 35 Oregon

NC State has the better record on paper, The Wolfpack boast an 18-10 record compared to the Ducks' 14-10 record, but Oregon has beat more impressive teams than NC State has this season.

NC State's highest-ranked win was against No. 32 Notre Dame. The Pack did sweep No. 38 Clemson and beat No. 33 Wake Forest 5-2. NC State also narrowly knocked off No. 32 Notre Dame 4-3. However, the Pack lost to No. 43 Virginia 5-2 and No. 37 Florida State 5-2.

Oregon, on the other hand, beat No. 25 USC for the first time in program history this year and took out No. 23 UCLA in the Pac-12 Championships. The Ducks only narrowly lost to top teams No. 16 Baylor and No. 13 Cal 4-3 and took out No. 31 Washington 4-3, which is right behind NC State in the ITA rankings. The Wolfpack have the higher ranking, but Oregon is still the favorite to come out with the win. The Ducks tend to rise to the occasion and will thrive under the pressure in their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2007.

PREDICTION: Oregon def. NC State 4-3

Other matchups on the list:
5) No. 21 LSU vs. No. 40 Tulsa
4) No. 31 Washington vs. No. 38 Clemson
